Job Title: Event Operations Volunteer

Reports To: Event Operations Manager

 

SALARY: Unpaid

SUMMARY:

As an Event Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in assisting the smooth execution of our upcoming events. Your dedication and enthusiasm will contribute to creating a memorable experience for all attendees.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with event setup, including arranging seating, decorations, and signage.
  • Welcome guests and provide them with necessary information about the event.
  • Help with registration and check-in processes.
  • Support event organizers in managing logistics during the event..
  • Provide assistance to attendees as needed and address any inquiries or concerns.
  • Assist with event load in and breakdown and cleanup tasks.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work evening and weekends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Enthusiasm for helping others and creating a positive experience.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting and moving event materials.
  • Prior experience in event support or customer service roles (preferred but not required).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Interest in science and Frost Science’s mission.
  • Interest in event and hospitality management.
  • Strong oral communication skills.
  • Reliable and punctual, with good attendance.
  • Must demonstration an enthusiastic and friendly attitude at all times, focused on guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work well with different personalities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve and be resourceful.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or (English/Creole) preferred.
  • Experience in customer service a plus.
  • Must be 16 years or older.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those as employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The working environment is both the interior and exterior spaces of the museum. Must be able to work for extended periods of time in elements such as sun, rain, heat, wind, etc. Exposure to outdoor activities is often requested.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Background clearance.
  • Drug screening as part of the Drug Free Workplace Program.
